Following my cousin on his morning walk, the late (Arwah) Mohd, Kalam. Alfatihah!
Sunday Solitude: A Walk of Remembrance
by Shamsul Bahari
All is moving according to plan.
Woke up, sat quietly, then took a shower—worked out the kinks in the legs under the cold water. No hot water, as advised. No heavy-duty soap. Just being. So far, so good.
Then came the walk.
Took the garbage out and made my way to the small park nearby. The school of pigeons greeted me, expectant.
I had nothing for them this time, but I promised: next round, I’ll bring food.
I walked the yellow brick path of the park—two calm rounds—whispering la ilaha illallah with every step.
Nothing exists but the One.
And I am part of it all.
After that, I walked to the row of shops. Got some drinks for the children and myself.
Bundaberg Traditional Lemonade for me.
Root Beer for my son.
Passion Fruit for my daughter.
A little extra spent, but my heart said yes. If it lifts their Sunday morning spirits just a little, it’s worth it.
And finally—
I simply learned not to worry,
nor to hurry to get there.
It is already here.
