Sofa so Good!
Sermon on the Sofa
27 November 2017
So, what is the most elusive question in life?
Who am I? What am I?
Am I this body? This mind?
In Buddhism, the question becomes:
“What is your Original Buddha Nature?”
That which Is—before you ever were.
It might sound silly to most. But for the seekers, this is a lifelong Koan, an unanswerable riddle meant to crack open the mind. It's the essential inquiry for those living life beyond the mechanical eat-sleep-shit-work-then-die routine.
Don’t become a McDonald's or KFC chicken—bred, processed, consumed.
At the very least, be a live chicken—feathers and all, running wild around the village like an ayam kampung.
Or better yet—ayam hutan, the wild jungle fowl. Untamed. Sovereign.
Letting go of the life that has been fed to you—or injected into your consciousness since birth—is never easy. And it gets harder as you grow older. But letting go of fear itself is the key to liberation.
It is the fear of truly meeting who you are that keeps you in bondage. It’s the fear that blocks you from seeing through the delusions—delusions handed to you by well-meaning parents, by culture, by religion, by society, and by the entire architecture of human conditioning.
To die in vain is to die without ever waking up.
To die in vain is to die still dreaming.
But to be awake—truly awake—is to die a little each moment.
Die to illusion.
Die to Maya.
Die to duality.
Die to the ego’s endless drama of greed, hate, and delusion.
To be awake is to live as the observer—not the observed.
As the creator—not the created.
As the manifestor—not the manifested.
There is Grace within you.
There is Love already inherent in you.
There is Happiness, not from tomorrow or the next spiritual retreat, but now.
Here.
Don’t look for it out there.
Look in here—where it originates, where your divine nature already resides.
Stop making excuses. Remove doubt.
Claim the reality of your infinite conscious nature.
You are That which Is.
You are That which always Has Been—
The Unchanging, the Impeccable Buddha Nature.
The Atma Brahman.
The Holy Spirit.
Ruhul Qudus.
That which is unborn and undying.
May you realize the power of being the master of your own destiny.
Peace be with you.
