14/5/2018 – Wake Up!
It’s time to step away from the external world of my existence and return to the inward path of self-discovery—to seek the silence and solace of non-being. Though I accept that all is Maya, an illusion, and that I am merely a figment of my own imagination, I remain tethered to the reality of being—bound to the realm of form and mind, what the Buddhas call Nirmanakaya.
So long as I breathe, I am part of this vast cosmos, interdependent and governed by the laws of karma. Here, I wear the robe of a sworn Bodhisattva, serving sentient beings by helping to untangle the web of karmic existence and pointing toward the path of liberation. In doing so, I also serve myself, just as I have in countless past lives—practicing discipline, learning, and teaching as I walk this path. Like a woodcutter or water carrier, I continue my journey of awakening.
More advanced practitioners—or those of the “no-self” school—might dismiss my view as lacking a true understanding of the Buddha’s teaching of Anatta (non-self). And I don’t disagree. Somewhere deep inside, I share that same view: that I am nothing but a projection of consciousness in this dimension, born to experience life in human form. And yet, while I inhabit this form, while I live and breathe, I remain attached to this identity of skin and bones, of joy and sorrow, of right and wrong.
My understanding of the Buddha’s teaching is that I am what my mind thinks I am. These mental formations define my existence. But the same is true for everything around me—we are all co-arising and interwoven. I am a fragment of the whole, manifesting in relationship to all that exists. It is a magnificent illusion. It is my illusion.
As I witness the unfolding political drama in my country, I allow myself to engage with it, not in ignorance, but as an act of service. I share my reflections with sincerity, as I do in my pursuit of liberation. Although I see it all as an illusion, I still care, because I am part of it. I do not claim to be its creator, for that would be to claim divinity—but I observe and influence in subtle ways, hoping not to cause unnecessary suffering.
It is like playing a grand cosmic game of chess. Each move is made with the endgame in mind. The more graceful and subtle the move, the more harmonious the outcome. To move wisely, one must understand the rules deeply. I do not play chess—I play the game of life. Like Lord Krishna, I dance and play amidst the illusion. Like Lord Shiva, I perform the cosmic dance of death and rebirth.
Look around you. Feel it. You are, and always have been, the creator of your experience.
You are the master of your environment, your thoughts, and your circumstances.
You are the architect of your destiny—and why not?
What stops you?
God?
If you believe in God, then act accordingly.
You were created in His image.
So wake up. Stay awake. Do not be fooled by the dream.
