Malaysia has a New Government Now!

It.s 3:00 am., today the history of this country will make a tremendous change for better or for worse, change has to happen the country will change in every aspect of itself from economic to religion as well as the very laws of the land are concerned; nothing that affects the future  of the nation is spared . Today is The General Election Day for my country!!
A Voting we will go.
A Voting we will go!
Hi Ho a merry-o!
A Voting we will Go!

And what a unique and drama filled excitement it has been for the past two weeks or so. The Malaysian political scene is the dirtiest according to many around the world. I personally don't think this is so as for me it is what the Doctor ordered; the country and the people of this Good Nation needs a wake up call. I hope and pray the Alarm from the clock is not too loud; we don't need a rude awakening, we just need to reform, This is the Day! This Day will be remembered in my mind from hence forth -5:am. the 9th. of May, 2018.

Whichever way it turns out, the result of this Election will spell the future the fate of my country's future will be decided as of 8:00 am. this morning and I will vote at the Sungai Pinang- Jelutong constituency and the polling station is at the Tamil School located on the bank of one of the most stinkiest and polluted river in the world! All through the campaign speeches at rallies or the media, none not a one candidate raised the environmental issue. Talks centered so much on who ripped off the land and the people better and racial bigotry, religious issues that everything else including health care and education was blitzed out of the general picture; perhaps the campaign time was way to short for this to happen. If nothing else, the general election campaign this time unearthed all the worms from both side of the divide for the people to come to grip with; this is the state of the nation; she is sick and needs to be healed.

10th. of May, the new Prime Minister has declared two days of public holiday! The first of the many promises made to the people of Malaysia by the opposition party if they win the election. I along with just about everyone in the country was up all night glued to the TV screen hoping against all hopes that this time around a miracle can happen with the General Election and we were not disappointed. I casted my ballot in the late afternoon and for the first time I was confident in who I was going to vote for. I voted for the symbols that spelled freedom from tyranny, from kleptocracy and corruption; it did not matter who the person is that I was voting for as I really have no personal knowledge of the individuals and politicians are still politicians to me; most were once lawyers. Yesterday was more of a day of celebration for the nation everywhere, people were out in droves and most seemed happy and positive in carrying out their duty as a citizen. I felt proud to be  part of this community of mixed races and simple folks who depended on each other all these years through thick and thin practicing patience and tolerance in the face of adversities in not allowing religious and racial bigotry sabotage our freedom. The Malays, the Chinese and the Indians, primarily has stood shoulder to shoulder and decided to end the long time ruling party that has gone stale and sour. It is the people's power that has risen and spoken in one common voice, that enough is enough! We the people are sick and tired of being hoodwinked and exploited by the few we elected to office for the self serving corruption and delinquency, it is now time to face the ire of the people.

I watched the results came  in from the evening until about three in the morning as the process of winning a general election takes time even if not especially when it comes to tallying the votes. However it was well worth waiting as I was with a group of friends who were loud and had their opinions and not so subtle ways of letting it be known as to how they felt. It was a  Political Tsunami as the opposition party took one State after another along the West Coast of the Peninsular. This happened highly because of the leadership of the former Prime Minister, of 22 years ruling Malaysia and left politics for 15 years and now is back with a vengeance at the age of 93. Tun Mahathir is Malaysia's God Father, he is doctor who mad house calls and knows his patients up close and personal and the people  young and old can relate to him. The opposition party under the banner of Pakatan Harapan led by Tun Mahathir Mohamad saw a coalition of the three major races in the country of Chinese, Malays and Indians  wresting control of the government from the ruling party, led by the scandal ridden, Kleptokratic Barisan Nasional led by Najib Tun Razak.

It's history now, one that the nation will never forget; The day the people rose to the occasion as People's Power and brought to an end to UMNO that had ruled for over 60 years. History aside, those that had sat in the government over the years has practically raped and pillaged the Nation's coffer with impunity and the people stroked by peace and comfort has be taken for a ride by a group of smart operators who called themselves the people's choice . The wake up call came in the form of a billion dollars scandal that rocked Wall Street. The 1MDB saga has become a common knowledge to the farmers and fishermen of the East Coast to the traders on Wall Street. It has gone viral on fb and made headlines in the Wall Street Journals. The amount of money squandered away is head spinning and the government is in debt up to her neck. It is said that my grandchild, (if I am lucky to have one), would be paying for the country's debt even before he or she is conceived. What a world to come into in these days and age.

Tonight, on the 11th. at nine thirty  the New Prime Minister was sworn in making it official for the New Malaysian Government to start a new era in the history of this country. KUDOS! to all as the whole event went about without a drop of blood shed, it brought tears to my eyes and pride to my heart. I am able again to hold up my head and declare how proud I am to be a Malaysian and why I refused twice the offer to become an American citizen while living in the United States. It may not be the richest or cleanest or most tight assed country in the world, it is still one of the most beautiful country with a mixture of race and culture, religions and beliefs, it is a country that has it all and then some.
