Past memory of an awesome moment.
The Full Moon Over Arizona
I was driving alone along the southernmost stretch of the United States, somewhere between the Sonoran Desert and the Organ Pipe Mountains. My habit in those days was simple: when night drew near, I would seek out a safe, hidden place where I could rest undisturbed. That was how I found myself on a small slope off the road, setting up my tent as dusk settled over the desert.
As I worked, a sudden sensation came over me — an eerie awareness, as though something vast stood behind me. I turned, and there it was: a full moon rising, perfectly framed against the night sky.
In that instant, the feeling of unease melted into pure awe. The desert, the silence, the moon — everything converged into one moment of blessing. I was not afraid. I was not alone. I was part of the great unfolding mystery of life.
That night in Arizona remains etched in my memory, not because of fear, but because of the overwhelming sense of presence. The moon was not just a light in the sky; it was a reminder that even in solitude, I was embraced by the vastness.
These are the moments that guide us — unplanned, unsought, yet unforgettable. They awaken in us the sacred truth: awe is always waiting, just beyond the turn.
