Henna time!- Wedding part 2

Perhaps it has been handed down from the Hindi tradition but applying hena as part of the make up for the bride has been around for as long as i can remember and in some cases it became a cultural tradition.
hen·na
ˈhenə/
noun
  1. 1.
the powdered leaves of a tropical shrub, used as a dye to color the hair and decorate the body.
  2. 2.
the Old World shrub that produces henna, with small pink, red, or white flowers.
verb
  1. 1.
    dye (hair) with henna.

ApplyingHenna as a decorative art has become quite popular among the old and young and it has become more than just for weddings as young adults are more into its application as a part of their general make up. henna is something that is not permanent when applied and hence it is not haram for Muslims to use it.

The henna is aplied and left for a few hours to catch before the henna is washed off leaving the stained design like a tattoo on the skin.

The theme for the evening was the Hindustani look and so everyone was dressed to look like a Bollywood star.

So you sit not being able to scratch or dig your nose for a few hours! All in the name of beauty!

And you get an old fart or two to give you a hard time while you sit there waiting. It is all part of the prep. for becoming the queen for the day when the time comes.. One definitely cannot go to bed with all that stuff stuck in your toes and fingers, what is one scratches one's nose in the middle of the night.?
