Wish You Were Here - Revisited.

Wish You Were Here

Nothing stirs my soul quite like the music of Roger Waters and David Gilmore of Pink Floyd. Their songs have the uncanny ability to awaken something deep within me, as though calling me out of the slumber of dreams unchained.

Wish You Were Here will forever evoke memories of decades past, when life was dramatic, uncertain, and every next step seemed suspended between hope and mystery. If there is one song that will accompany me to my grave, this is it.

Thanks to Spotify, I can now multitask—immersed in this haunting music while allowing my thoughts to flow freely onto the page instead of surrendering to another routine morning that, though necessary, has become somewhat mundane.

This morning I woke up, answered nature's call, sat in meditation, stretched intensely, and took a warm shower—no shampoo, no soap, just water and awareness.

Then came the words that have echoed through my life:

"You reached for the secret too soon... You cried for the Moon... Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!"

How many times have these lyrics found me exactly where I was, speaking not to my ears but to something much deeper?

Morning has broken, like the first morning, as Cat Stevens once sang. Today, I have decided to take charge of how I feel and, as much as I am able, influence the outcome of this day. The circumstances may not all be mine to command, but my response to them is.

The music reminds me that I am still the painter, still the piper, still the prisoner seeking freedom—and perhaps, on my better days, capable of shining a little light into this world.

Insha'Allah.

Wallahu A'lam.
