Racism and religious sectarianism then are merely crutches, or shields for the journey, for one would not need to negate others if the world was not understood so antagonistically, as of scarcity, to begin with. And this is the kernel of the Malay nationalism that has endured most so far: born in poverty amidst the bewildering dissonance of demands from other ethnicities, languages, religions and ways of life while brewing hopes of European progress, the strong regime – whether it is led by a monarch, a racist party orUlamas – will always be the ideal saviour for those harbouring false hopes of tranquil in the cacophony of complex life. Viewed from this unflattering light of home, we are perhaps coming closer to answering the question of who is Malay.

It is not that i have run out of ideas of my own that I keep quoting others on the subjects I am sharing with those who enjoy reading my blog. I sometimes feel rhat the thoughts of others on the matters are expressed in a much better way and more easily understood and they express pretty much what i have in mind. I should add more information on the sources of my quotes so that my readers can further explore these writers I quote. My intention is to trigger some form of positive reaction towards the ideas put forth in relation to the subject of my writing which is basically the GE13. (General Election 2013), which will soon happen in Malaysia. The three quotes above reflects what my mind has perceived as critical issues that can and should be carefully addressed and understood by every intelligent if not intellectual Malaysians and these perceptions among others should then be made known and understood by the common people of the country.
I am not advocating any party to win the election nor am I making any suggestion which party is the party of my choice; I am sharing my thoughts on the need for a change and if change is to happen what it would take and how should we implement it. As time is of the essence, those of us who have interest in the matter have to cease the moment (carpe diem) and act and not play reserve by eternally sitting on the fence as a watcher while letting others play the game for us. We have to get our fingers dirty and our knees scraped if we are to make any form of contribution towards the making our our country's future.
