SF - 1989 - 6 - Masks
The above colored masks wer thrown in to contrast the African and 'Western' contemporary " masks. These masks were a part of the museum collection at the MGTF - USM. They were originally Javanese theatrical masks.

These masks constructed from paper mache were very expressive almost apporcahing animalistic is appearence.
I got the pictures of the paper mache constructed masks while i was at Green Gulch Farm.
Most of these African Masks were sketched from original ones found at the De Young Museum in San Francisco.
