The Queen of farts. -Worth keeping for posterity.

Rosmah Mansor, Uncrowned Queen of 'Putrakaya' ~ by KP Chee

I don’t recall when I first heard the name Rosmah Mansor, but I clearly remember that whatever was said about her wasn’t exactly flattering.

Indeed, I can’t think of any Malaysian public figure around whom swirls so many ugly rumors and who is more feared and loathed – apart from, of course, Mahathir Mohamad.

What is it about Rosmah Mansor that makes her such a controversial figure? Is it just her big hair and penchant for Birkin bags and multimillion ringgit bling-bling? Well, that doesn’t help her public image, that’s for sure – especially at a time when most Malaysians find themselves seriously burdened by the ridiculous cost of cars, houses, education; while prices keep going up as the ringgit shrinks in value with no corresponding rise in household incomes.

Born 10 December 1951 in Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan, to schoolteacher parents, Rosmah holds a Bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology from Universiti Malaya, as well as a Master’s in sociology and agriculture from Louisiana State University, from which she graduated in 1978. She then joined Bank Pertanian as an executive and, in 1983, switched to property development with Island & Peninsular. Those were boom years in the local economy and Rosmah did extremely well selling expensive properties to nouveau-riche Umnoputras, especially political bigwigs.

There was talk that she was eyeing Rahim Thamby Chik, then Chief Minister of Melaka. However, her foxy instincts served her well and she redirected her feminine charms at another rising star in Umno, Najib Razak, then Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. In 1987, Najib divorced Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar, his first wife, and married Rosmah Mansor.

A Nasty Reputation

By 1991 Najib Razak had been appointed defence minister, which presented him with great opportunities to strengthen his political (and financial) position – while Rahim Thamby Chik was forced to step down as Chief Minister in 1994 after he was charged with statutory rape. The case was thrown out and Rahim Thamby Chik was quietly made chairman of Risda, a post he still holds, despite being recently found guilty of screening pornography at Carcosa Seri Negara.

Even as Najib Razak craftily navigated his way through the Byzantine intrigues of Umno politics, Rosmah Mansor was acquiring a nasty reputation in her own inimitable style. Stories began to circulate about her penchant for expensive trinkets and how she would unashamedly throw her weight around, intimidating owners of jewelry stores for outrageous discounts. One apocryphal tale relates how she even threatened to shut down the business if they didn’t accede to her demands – and having been appeased with the offer of a free gift worth tens of thousands, she simply took the gift and walked out without buying the item she had originally haggled over.

When news broke just before Bersih 2.0 that Rosmah Mansor had imported a $24 million diamond ring from a famous New York jeweler, most Malaysians were aghast at the cost - but found it easy to believe that she was perfectly capable of such unimaginable extravagance, considering her collection of Birkin bags worth approximately $150,000 each.

Soul Mortgaged

How does one explain such an unsavory personality trait? It has to be examined in the context of provincial Malay culture, which is still largely feudalistic at its core. Social status is extremely important to the rural psyche and any ambitious ego would certainly strive to amass sufficient material wealth and political influence to qualify for entry into the rarefied realms of the traditional aristocracy.

Some say Rosmah Mansor is Malaysia’s version of Dr Faustus, a respected scholar who, in his overweening ambition to unravel the secrets of the universe through the practice of dark sorcery, mortgages his soul to the Devil. In Rosmah’s case it isn’t knowledge that she craves, but queenly power. We are hardly surprised, then, that she would dub herself “First Lady of Malaysia” shortly after her husband’s anointment as sixth prime minister (or crime minister, as some prefer to call him) – a title reserved for the wives of presidents or, in the case of Malaysia, the Raja Permaisuri Agong.

Her desperate hunger for self-glorification knows no bounds. This is, in fact, her greatest weakness, and it has been exploited by her business proxies who conspire to gratify her enormous ego with “sponsored” accolades like the dubious “International Peace and Harmony Award” conferred on her on 16 April 2010 by the Business Council for International Understanding in New York. This was commemorated with a double-page full-color ad in the New York Times which was signed off: “Best wishes from family and friends in USA and Malaysia.” A full-page black-and-white ad in the prestigious New York Times can cost up to $230,000 (RM736,000). It has been estimated that a double-page full-color center-spread would cost at least twice that amount.

On 11 February 2012 Curtin University, which enjoys close ties with the Malaysian education ministry, conferred an honorary doctorate on Rosmah Mansor. This news triggered a wave of ridicule and outrage, particularly among former Curtin graduates who protested that the university had debased and degraded itself by pandering to the whims of the widely-loathed FLOM (acronym for First Lady of Malaysia which those with barbed tongues often read as Fat Lady of Malaysia).

To be fair, we must concede that Rosmah certainly possesses enough smarts to have earned that doctorate, since she obtained her Master’s degree from Louisiana State University long before she achieved notoriety as Najib Razak’s spouse.

Indeed, on 7 May 2012, Rosmah acquired another honorary doctorate, this time from the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris in Tanjong Malim – and on 20 June 2013 she was conferred yet another honorary doctorate and even made an honorary professor – but this time the news created hardly a ripple, since it was from  Kazakhstan University (and everybody knows Rosmah’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa, is married to Daniyar Nazarbayev, step-nephew of the President of Kazakhstan).

FLOM Fiasco

Ironically, the more vainglorious one’s ego, the less admirable one appears in other’s eyes. Surrounding herself with sycophantic courtiers and obsequious bottom feeders, Rosmah has turned into a walking caricature of evil personified, reminding us of Walt Disney’s tyrannical witch queenMaleficent in Sleeping Beauty (who commands a palace guard of mindless minions ever ready to defend her public image against all detractors).

Indeed, such is her clout around the palace in 'Putrakaya' (where those who have gained instant wealth by manipulating an “affirmative” economic policy based on spurious notions of racial supremacy have entrenched themselves) she has been granted hundreds of millions for her assorted pet projects – none of which is subject to public scrutiny or financial accountability – and even her own quasi-governmental department with a salaried staff. When the FLOM website was launched, the public outcry was so loud it was quickly shut down within days.

Although Rosmah’s distinctive hairdo (which resembles a pharaonic headpiece) has been the brunt of political cartoonists (notably Zunar) she has nonetheless been taken seriously enough by world leaders like Lee Kuan Yew, who insisted on paying her a personal visit during his official Malaysian tour in June 2009. Speculation was rife about what might have been discussed. Political pundits pointed to Lee’s paying Rosmah homage as a clear sign that she was indeed the real power behind her pink-lipped husband’s throne.

When Rosmah flew to the 4th Qatar International Businesswoman’s Forum on a government-funded executive jet – and then stopped over in Dubai to do some shopping and hobnob with Princess Haya, wife of the ruler of Dubai – another hue and cry was raised in parliament by the opposition. Under questioning it was revealed that the average “official” flight costs nearly RM500,000. Less than a week earlier, the nation had been shocked to learn that Rosmah and Najib’s annual electricity bill amounted to RM2.2 million.

Red Queen and Knaves

Clearly, the problem with Rosmah Mansor is that she revels in the imaginary splendor of living the luxurious lifestyle of ancient queens in an age when such excesses only invite disgust and odium. Nevertheless, to the BN ministers beholden to her husband, Rosmah can do no wrong and they have stuck their necks out in her defence.

Deepak Jaikishan
Rosmah Mansor was at one time close to carpet seller Deepak Jaikishan who scurried around doing her every bidding and lavishing on her gifts of expensive jewelry in exchange for business favors.

Then something soured the relationship and Deepak began to hold media conferences denouncing the FLOM and even released online a poorly written book (The Black Rose) detailing her reliance on talismans and magical spells. Not too many eyebrows were raised, however, as Malaysians had long known about Rosmah’s superstitious dependence on dark sorcery, even dubbing her “Perempuan Puaka” (meaning witchy woman).

In the digital age, not many take seriously the idea of black magic or voodoo – and perhaps that is why they can unwittingly succumb to it. How so? The secret history of political power on this earth has from time immemorial been associated with occult forces. In The Origins of Man and Universe: The Myth that Came to Life the mystic philosopher Barry Long hypothesized that the first tribal chiefs were shamans whose advanced psychic powers awed and intimidated others into following their vision of reality. Despite all the trappings of modernity a vast majority of people still cling to a superstitious belief in sorcery – and it is this barely concealed fear of the unknown that makes them susceptible to being hypnotized and subtly possessed by strongly focused wills.

When Najib Razak was nominated Umno president by 191 allegedly bought-off party division chiefs and installed as prime minister on 3 April 2009, video footage revealed a beaming Rosmah Mansor luxuriating in her moment of victory. Very quickly a strange pall of petty bickering descended upon the opposition parties, resulting in a slew of defections, which had a depressing effect on an electorate yearning for radical change.

Call it what you will – dark sorcery or voodoo – the effects aren’t always spectacular or even visible to the unobservant eye. More often the spell cast upon an unsuspecting populace merely enfeebles their resolve, dilutes their aspirations, and brings out the worst in their own psyches.

The sense of larger community is replaced by aggressive surges of communal self-interest; individual egos become more isolated in their sense of separateness from others – and therefore more prone to acts of violence against others when threatened by acute financial despair.

Tim Burton released his version of the classic Alice in Wonderland in 2010 which carried a strong undercurrent of social and political commentary. In Burton’s film, decay and entropy lay waste to a once beautiful world, and the inhabitants are subdued and oppressed by fascist control mechanisms. Under the Red Queen's demented and tyrannical rule, Wonderland becomes Underland - a subterranean dream/nightmare with surreal overtones, where the Jubjub Bird and the Frumious Bandersnatch and the Burbling Jabberwock serve as the Red Queen's law enforcement agencies. A riot squad of playing cards stands ready to quell rebellion with the Underlandish equivalent of tear gas and water cannons - and bloodhounds are blackmailed into the Knave of Hearts's secret service.
Alice slays the Jabberwock
But all ends well when the innocent and pure-hearted Alice arrives in Underland, summoned by the White Rabbit (who symbolizes a civil service loyal to the land and not a specific political faction), wields the Vorpal Sword (of enhanced intelligence) and lops off the head of the Jabberwock (the Specter of May 13 and divide-and-rule politics). The White Queen reclaims her throne, life springs anew, and joy returns to Bolehland, oops, I mean, Wonderland.

I Give up!

This morning during my walk along the Karpal Singh Drive I stopped and chatted with an elderly gentleman in his eighties and found out his name after he had asked me mine. He has been a very regular 'walker' carries a heavy walking cane which he claims was for a deterrent against dogs and also according to him was heavy enough to make a good weight for an arm exercise when he walks swinging it to and fro. When i first encountered him i thought he was a European from his height and  the way he carried himself when he walked. He reminded me of a military man and after a few morning of passing by him i greeted him and was surprised at his gentlemanly way of replying me, I was impressed.
A few weeks later after our first good mornings I learned that he is a Malay, mixed of some sort, yet to be found out and I was informed the he is also a Dato' and was a Prison Warden at one time in his life. He introduced himself as Ibrahim and during out short interrupt from the walk he confided in me that he is not happy the way Malaysians are becoming overly religious and preferred the moderate life style that we had 20 -30 years back and we parted with not much else to continue on our ways. I am writing this down simply because I sense that there might be a future in our relationship as he seems to me a man of knowledge and integrity, someone i might learn a thing or two from if I get the chance to. Just a note to myself.
I have not much more to write about except that of lat i have been setting myself to refreshing my Buddhist understanding through listening to the talk given by Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche, the Tibetan Nun who gave a thorough lecture series based on the teachings of Nagarjuna..I listen to these talk on You Tube and every now and then the camera would turn around and capture the members of the sanga present rapt in their thoughtless selves while listening intensely to her talks, it is very uplifting to see the mixture of people in the audience and makes me feel humble and at the same time elated by i; yes there are those who cares..These are the people that i think of when i say that not all of Americans are asleep, there are many and growing in numbers of people who are awakening to the reality of what.  Along with these Dharma practitioners are those who have taken Islam to be their calling The number of those Americans getting more and more involved into their spiritual development rather than just existing as TV Addicts among other things that the Americans are addicted to which includes the Bars and Tavern, the Super Bowls and World Series etc.

We are proud of our seccess

Here in Malaysia the country is rolling along gathering more and more crap in the form of this and that arrests by the various departments that is capable of making arrests for just about anything and everything. I nothing else it keeps the courts employed, all the lawmakers and lawyers gainly employed and the makes it looks like ours is a well rune country full of rule of laws that will soon be an entry into the Guinness Books as the country with the most legal issues on record. :however you want to look at it.
I must admit i am coming to a point where I might just throw in the towel and give up writing any more nonsense in this blogging. I am not doing any justice but just simply wasting time. The politicians have done one hell of a job in screwing this country up that it is like there is no turning back.
Sometimes i feel like an Ass.

Such Is!

Marissa Is on her way for an interview with Emirates Air somewhere in Ipoh, Perak and i have been praying and rooting for her success. As a a father I might be bias for my daughter that she'd be perfect for the job of an airline stewardess especially for Emirates as her brother is also a Captain for the airline and so in his father in law, not that it would make much difference other than an incentive to be a a part of the  family tradition and make history. But sad to say sometimes plan all you want dream all you can dream and envision all that is possible in this realm of probabilities,at the end of the day God has His own agenda already written in the Book of Mahfuz; man plans God directs. So it is written, so mode it be that every soul has its life history written out from cradle to grave - DNA?
There will always be defeats and downfalls in our lives, no doubt about it and most of the time it is not through your own misgivings but through newly added dimensions to the equation that throws the blueprint out of whack. Something that you least expect and or took for granted, something that has its own stronger agenda to fulfill and you happen to be in the way swept aside to make way for these unforeseen circumstances. Acceptance is one of the best ways in dealing with this kind of situation, it is less confrontational and would yield better impact in the long run. Acceptance is not giving up or admitting defeat, it is merely a retreat from having to make any move that is ill advised or detrimental to what you intend to achieve. Once you have accepted an inconvenience or vexation with full consciousness and understanding, you simply shelve the whole issue into your filing cabinet and let it  gather dust till comes a time when it reveals itself again demanding attention usually demanding to be rectified. This is how i have been dealing with my daily mental states involving past present and future events within and out of my control, I file them and let them ferment and cooked by themselves till it is time that they need to be served.
Today meditation has become a household word although it is still a household chore that most still take it as such, a chore. I find it after years of forcing myself to sit and face the wall, I say force only because I tend to be lazy at doing anything that demands my sitting and doing nothing, that meditation has been a great healer for me especially in dealing with my anger and lack of patience. The practice has allowed me to better stay in focus rather than rush into getting all riled up over situations that otherwise would not have mattered more than just calmly walking away and making a wise and rational decision when the time is ripe which usually happens of it own accord when least expected. I am far from being wise old fart who has found truth and longevity or awakened to the divine light, no sir, I am still bothered by the most banal of distractions and worried by the least of concerns, but I do this at a different level now and I can only say I feel it so.
Approaching 66 I take my morning walks of 4 to 5 kilometers every morning after my morning prayer. I do my stretching in between and sit and watch the sun rising out of the horizon placing the red disc right between my eyebrows awakening my pineal gland imagining that the rays penetrates my entire brain showering it with strong energy. I have no idea if it does work as i see it but i have the feeling that something is happening every time i do this but my gut feeling something does and it is not bad. So i go on seeking for ways to awaken my physical body and mind to be present in the moment through all these exercises which by the way includes a continuing Zikhr for every step i take, like the word Allah, Allah, Alllah, God, God God! What could go wrong? I find peace though not a permanent state of Peacefulness like the Yogis in the Himalayas but I find peace long enough to remind myself how fortunate I am that i am healthy when I come upon a sick man or how rich I am when I stumble upon a beggar or how fortunate I am when someone tells me that I have made their day.

At 66 what else could a guy ask for except that his kids are doing fine.

Ask me If I Care!

Ask me if I care! Definitely yes I do. Three of my children were born in the US and I married two American women in my life giving me three children all legitimate American citizens if they choose to be so. Not because of these but I simply love the country and the people at least those that i have ate sleep and shit with for 21 years of my life living in the US. 8 years in Wisconsin, namely in Green Bay, Milwaukee and West Allies . 2 years in the Aleutian Ilse off the Alaskan coast in the Pacific North West. In a little fishing town called Sand Point, Alaska and a year more or less in Washington State and 10 years in the San Francisco bay Area. I met and had relationships with some of the most beautiful people on earth and i had lived the life that was practically free as a lark. I did what my heart dictates and followed my instinct from one episode of my life to the next with no regrets or remorse most of the time. This sense of freedom i will never ever dream of again, not in this life.

America was my dream came true, it was also my nightmares overcame through trials and errors, but it was the best of times and the worse in my life. I was blessed to be able to have been allowed to live a life that not too many can boast of, not even the Americans themselves as my close friends used to point out to me. America is a beautiful country with a great many beautiful people, warm hearted and open minded, generous and mostly just down to earth once you get to know them and they you. The country is an amazingly beautiful almost everywhere you go, whether the Corn belt of the Mid West or the Prairies landscape of the South West, The cold winter snow of the North or the rugged lands of Utah and Wyoming, I have traveled the length and breath of the United States in my 21 years of living there. I have flown from one end to the other, took the grey hound from East to West, Drove a delivery van pulling a trailer hitch all over the country and i have hitch hiked from Green Bay all the way to LA. Yes i have driven my trusty old Chevy Impala all the way from green Bay through to new Mexico and Arizona and later Colorado for three months doing my College work. I fell with the sights and scenes and the people even when times were not so good for me.

Do I care what happens to the United State of America? You're damn right I do! I pray to the Lord that what i read and watch on You Tube and the rest of the Internet of Conspiracy Theories and the rise of the Police state and so forth is not real. I hope against all hope that all these will blow over once the Americans get their act together like they always do if and when they decide to wake up and cry foul! No where on earth are there more enlightened people that i have met than in the US and nowhere have i met more drunks and potheads than in the US and i am still convinced that when shit hits the fence most Americans young and old will rise to the occasion and act accordingly.
I would have written the same of Russia had i lived in the country instead of the US, but i highly doubt it. I cannot even come near to writing with an equal affection for my own country of Malaysia for that matter after all that has been going on ever since I returned in 1998 to settle down here. This was the year Anwar ibrahim first got thrown into the mess that he is in till this day. As a point of note, I am not for or against the ruling government in this country but i am very sad and disturbed by what has been transpiring all the corruptions and blatant lack of compassion and tolerance towards those who are not able to defense themselves. Religious sanctimonious and racial bigotry, the disrespect for the old and the disregard for the needs of the young. Drugs and sex related ailments. Malaysia has not arrived at par as a developed nation as to the US, but this country suffers from the same decadence as the Super Power if not more so.

America will Implode!

Perhaps there is no country on earth that can defeat the United States of America through war or occupation, maybe by economy but highly unlikely too, however, the United States is headed for an implosion. What in tarnation am i yapping about now!?
. noun
  1. A violent collapse inward, as of a highly evacuated glass vessel.
  2. Violent compression.
  3. The inward collapse of a building that is being demolished in a controlled fashion by the weakening and breaking of structural members by explosives.

I believe if half the American population wakes up from their 'American Dream', there would be an American Revolution, but this is not to be because most Americans still are living in denial and this is claimed by most who have 'seen the light' and not just my own rambling. It is shame that a country that could have been a super model for the rest of the world to emulate is now just about as blind and corrupt  if not worse, than Sodom and Gomorrah of Biblical eras. The US will slowly but surely rot from within itself at the rate that nation is progressing towards decadence and self annihilation and this through her own people.
There is so much disparity between the haves and the have nots the United States that a homeless person can live on the garbage thrown away by a rich family and there so much waste generated by the nation as whole that a new state could be constructed out of it, but Americans live proud of themselves like there is no end to this dream state. Despite all the warnings and reminders by those who see the precarious road the US is headed towards, the scientists and the poets, the spiritualist and the lawmakers, none of these makes an impact at halting the Nation from heading towards the abyss of self destruction.

    What is wrong with America?
    Big question.
    Simple answer.
We Americans have completely lost any sense of why a country, a society, and a government exist....
The Declaration of Independence had it right when, in its inspiring preamble, it aroused a nation of rebels by espousing the inalienable rights of  “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Period.
t has become clear that the imperative of ever more growth, the ethos and driving force of modern corporate capitalism, is leading to the destruction of the very biosphere that sustains life on this planet. It is a threat to liberty, too, because one country’s growth — America’s — requires the constant assault on those weaker countries that threaten us. The globe is a finite place, and at this point, with seven
billion people crowded upon it, for one group — that is to say 313 million Americans — to prosper and grow, requires that 6.7 billion others give up something. In other words, for America to grow, it must be in a constant state of imperial domination and war, which also means a state of war at home, with all the concomitant restrictions on freedom, not to mention expropriation of revenue from the public (53 cents out of every tax dollar), that such a state inevitably entails.

This assault on these three crucial rights must be stopped. We Americans must wake up to the reality that growth in a finite world, far from being a good thing, inevitably means less life and liberty, and a very reduced opportunity to pursue happiness.
Dave Lindorff is a  founder of This Can’t Be Happening and a contributor to Hopeless: Barack Obama and the Politics of Illusion, published by AK Press. Hopeless is also available in a Kindle edition. He lives in Philadelphia.
  4.  By focusing on the crimes of others and the threat from without, the administration is able to maintain a façade of innocence in the face of all the injustice rocking the nation, e.g., the burgeoning prison population, an increasingly brutal and militarized police force, the slow death of the American middle class, the widening wealth gap in the face of Wall Street lawlessness, the increasing influence of money in elections and public policy, and a host of other injustices eating away at our country. But pay no attention, people. There is a grave threat over yonder!

What primarily is wrong in America is that she is drowning in her own vomit. What I mean is, for years, we have been allowing injustice to reign in the great halls of our country in Washington. The injustice I hate to tell you is that we, and I am including myself have sat back and let much of this happen to ourselves. We haven't stood up and cried out when we should have about things. And then when we did, we got screwed again by the politicians trying to not only appease us, but the big interests they are being funded by.
I'm sorry to say, but we as Americans are our worse enemy. It is not the politicians doing us in, we are doing ourselves in because for we are letting these politicians in Washington do these things to us. Why do we let them do these things? Are we are so busy trying to make ends meet, raising kids, we have no time to watch what is really going on in Washington?
    ~ David Lawrence Dewey ~

As he stated “The train has its final destination and there is no stopping it. America had its chance to mobilize and try and stop the coming tyranny, but they could not get off the couch and stop watching the damn NFL. Well, the new NFL term stands for “Not For Long” and that is how much time this country has left. Americans have been wallowing in their own apathy and ignorance for decades. Soon, they will be wallowing in their own blood”. This is from a General who fought in two wars.

    -
es, retire en masse, it is not necessarily a noteworthy event. However, when the same officials retire en masse and then relocate to form their own survivalist enclaves, then this is something that we should all sit up and take notice of, especially when we are seeing the same behavior on the part of Wall Street executives.

Recently, retired officials from the NSA have relocated to an area in the Ozarks where they have access to underground safety zone which have/are being transformed into mini-villages of self-sustainable protection. Their properties consist typically of 5 to 10 acres for each family, contains a portable water supply, residents are armed to the teeth, have alternative communications that are not reliant on the grid and have years of stored food. My source is an individual who retired from the NSA almost three years ago. His decision to participate in the relocation was triggered by the re-election of President Obama which he said will hasten the onslaught of what is to come because Obama’s administration fully embraces the current course of action. Those were the words of  20 year veteran of the NSA, not my words.

  5. Will the ordinary man on the street or in the taverns and bowling alleys, the nightly produce markets or the fisher, man's wharfs wake to the reality that is hovering over them like the sword of Damocles, will they ever stop watching the Nightly News on TV and look out their windows into the streets and realize that things are not really getting better for them? Will they ever realize that those who have sold their country down the drain are running for the hills expecting an eventual catastrophe that they themselves have cooked up for the common folks.
  6. When the very people they elected to protect them have turned into vampires themselves preying on the weak and ignorant, when the country is fast turning into a police state with cops running shot guns over the masses like prison guards in the killing fields, will the America Joe ever wake up from this blooming nightmare that they have brought upon themselves from too much apathy and lack of awareness. Americans have a very strong believe that and external threat will unite the country to defend itself, this has become a misnomer, Americans are hoping for an invading Alien race that will help to put them back on the right track of Life Liberty and the Pursuit Happiness. The American Dream is fast evolving into one big nightmare and it will not be the threat from the communist bloc nor that of China that will bring this great nation to its knees but the powers that be that has run down the country into the gutters.
  7. The board referred to the torture practices as “a vast criminal conspiracy, under color of law, to commit torture and other serious crimes.”
…any credible investigation should include former Vice President Dick Cheney; Mr. Cheney’s chief of staff, David Addington; the former C.I.A. director George Tenet; and John Yoo and Jay Bybee, the Office of Legal Counsel lawyers who drafted what became known as the torture memos,” the editorial reads. “There are many more names that could be considered, including Jose Rodriguez Jr., the C.I.A. official who ordered the destruction of the videotapes; the psychologists who devised the torture regimen; and the C.I.A. employees who carried out that regimen.”
“These are, simply, crimes. They are prohibited by federal law, which defines torture as the intentional infliction of “severe physical or mental pain or suffering.” They are also banned by the Convention Against Torture, the international treaty that the United States ratified in 1994 and that requires prosecution of any acts of torture.
  8. America will implode upon itself from too much strife and internal chaos, There is no need for any external invasion as no country except perhaps a super power like China and Russia can or dare to take on this self appointed global police state. Manipulated intensely by the Zionist State of Israel pushing for its global agenda for ungodly purposes, America is drowning in her own vomit. What would it take to defuse this time bomb from exploding? Only the Average American man who walk the streets and frequent the bars and taverns, those buried in their TV dinner trays and those who are stuck in their day to day myopic vision of the American Dream can answer the question. It has past the time to wake up! It is the time to rise and take stock of what is the truth about the State of The Nation.

Aftermath of Flodds in Kelantan - 3 - Pics by Nasir- Comments by Lim Kit Siang.

Almost every year, Kelantan and a few other east coast states are flooded due to the heavy monsoon rain towards the end of the year. But this time around, Kelantan and the other east coast states were hit by major floods since year 2004.

s this a never ending curse for these states, especially Kelantan? Who are supposed to be blamed for this annual mishap suffered by the Kelantanese? Central government? State government? Or the wrongdoings of the locals in Kelantan?

Amid, flood in this state is just another annual affair for the locals except for the heavy flood that occurred several times – 1926, 1967, 2004 and the latest, 2014. In other words, it’s part and parcel of the Kelantanese’s life.
However, the current flood incident and its severity had defied all traditional beliefs. Does the heavy flood, caused by heavy monsoon rain and other factors, still relevant in this modern age with all the technological advancements?

As much as 255 mm (10 inches) of rain fell in 24 hours between December 21 and 22 in the east coast states, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department. It had further worsened the flood in the states.
On December 23, the Malaysian Meteorological Department issued a high level warning of heavy rain in parts of peninsular Malaysia (source: floodlist.com). Adding to that, the high tide phenomena – which is influenced by the moon were also identified as one of the major contributors for the heavy flood.

Adding to that, the high tide phenomena – which is influenced by the moon were also identified as one of the major contributors for the heavy flood.
This is known as the ‘new moon phenomena’, where the close proximity of the moon from earth results in high tide. This high tide will usually cause the sea level to rise tremendously and eventually hampers the dissipation of flood.

The following are the main factors of the aforementioned phenomena, contributing to heavy flooding :
a. The close proximity of the moon from Perigee
b. The moon in close proximity with the new moon-phase which is in parallel with the sun
c. The occurrence of Perigean spring tide
d. The strong wind from the northeast e. Heavy downpour in the remote areas in the east coast states (Source: falakonline.net)

Apart from the east coasts in Peninsular Malaysia – southern provinces in Thailand, a few islands in Indonesia and five provinces in Sri Lanka were also badly affected.
Although the flood is not something unusual in southeast Asia, the central and state government’s role in solving this ever continuing mishap cannot be discounted at all.

t is also a core responsibility of the state government which is helmed by the opposition for over 20 years. Therefore, the state government has no choice but to take serious measures to overcome the flood woes in the state as soon as possible. The state government should look into the geographical factors, drainage system and the uncontrolled deforestation in the state in order to overcome the flood woes once and for all. The political differences between the central and state government have to be scrapped and they should work as a team to identify the glitches in all these factors.

The blame game between these two sides has to stop immediately for a flood-free state to materialise. Scant oil royalty should not become the main excuse for the state government’s failure to solve the flood woes. – December 28, 2014.-

The Aftermath of the Floods in the State of Kelantan - Pics by Radzi

Every year the East Coast of the Malay Peninsular is being bashed by the Monsoon rains that comes off the South China Sea and sometimes the result can be disastrous. For as long as i can remember having spent my teenage years along the east Coast there was never such a bad floods resulting as the one that hit the East coast sates at the end of 2014  -2015.

The reason for the flooding in Kelantan is not just the extensive logging, nor is it God’s wrath or climate change or PAS or Umno Baru. The real reason for the disastrous floods in Kelantan is decades of neglect and under-investment by the government – both state and federal. It is also the people’s lack of will to force Putrajaya to provide the badly needed national funds to build flood defences and develop the state.

Concerned individuals and both local and foreign NGOs, have been voicing their fears about the alarming rate of deforestation. These warnings have fallen on deaf ears. -

TUMPAT-- The floods inundating east coast states in Peninsular Malaysia, especially in Kelantan, have been regarded as extraordinary, and all quarters must view the matter seriously to avoid untoward incidents. -Shahidan Kassim.

Where did all that mud come from? Many believe it was from the hilly region of Ulu Kelantan, following the massive clearing of forest for oil palm plantations and vegetable farming.

“The water rose so rapidly. We ran to higher ground to save ourselves but soon found ourselves trapped there, like on a deserted island surrounded by water with very strong current,”

On January 4, Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said that during the height of the floods, there were two days where the amount of rain was equivalent to the total Kelantan experienced for a month last year.

A senior lecturer at the Earth Sciences Faculty of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Dr Zulhazman Hamzah, said among the causes of the mud flood was the large scale deforestation of the hilly regions in Ulu Kelantan.
