A Stroll Through the Lorong Kulit Flea Market.

The Lorong Kulit flea market is not unlike the Souk in Dubai or the Portobello Market in London or the Flea market in San Jose California.. This is the place where everything new and old under the sun is sold at bargain prices. Here you find the throwaways and the precious gem in the form of unique antiques.
The flea market is located somewhere in the vincinity of the Penang City Stadium and the Sungai Pinang River where the P.Ramlee house is located. It is one of the oldest such market second perhaps only to the Armenian Street Rope walk flea market in downtown Georgetown.
Other than good bargains and unique items one can also mingle with the  'Real Locals' who  frequent the  site seeking something of simply just strolling for the sake of strolling.
Jeans and T'Shirts but none are possibly originals as you can find Levis from Hong Kong  and  Lees from Thailand and the lady selling these items was truthful about it.
Young or old there is something for everyone to enjoy at the Lorong Kulit flea market where the vendors are as knowledgeable about what they sell as they are about who President George Bush was.
I bought an alarm clock here once and it lasted me for  a whole three weeks!
Yes reach up and touch something or look down and discover a hidden treasure, something you dont really need but  it seems to need you like you were meant for eachother.
Curios and antiques are a delight to behold as they remind one of some gone by days where they were an item of your choice but now they have become a museum piece or just another roadside attraction..
If you visit any old city anywhere in the world do drop by the flea market if you can find your way to one. Here is where the history of the society can be told through the items that were used by the people of the city in their earlier days as each item has its story to tell.
As always remember it is all about relationship, you and the rest of the world, the community, the people who paases you by and those who try to sell you an old piece of soap dish once used by Captain Francis Light or so it was told.
