Group Exhibition at Rashid's Place.

On the roadside directly in front of the Gallery Seni Lukis Melayu or Malay Art gallery a trishaw peddler  squats fixing his vehicle oblivious to what was going on around him. Acceptance is a very strong virtue that can turn weakness into strength and survival. Many of us have a hard time acknowledge who we are and what our limitations in this life is and thus we live in constant conflict. We could have been better, should have been better aught to be better than who we are and so we live day to day trying to become something we think we aught to be rather than being who we really are. This trishaw peddler to me has accepted who he was and is perfectly at peace with it. He may be poor financially but he is at peace with being who or where he was at.
Fifteen Penang artists took part in the exhibition which took place at the Penang  Malay Art Gallery on Chulia street in downtown Georgetown. It was an effort to bring together artist from all the different races to work together and this is our second effort. The first was held at the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce Town Hall a year ago and it numbered twenty five artists. The Malay Art Gallery being smaller in space the number of artist was reduced but most of the original artists joined the show. The majority of the artists were Chinese and with four Malays and an Indian made it a good selection of works that reflects the Penang Art Scene.
A good shot of one of my works being entertained! We could not find  any prominent figure to officiate the opening of the show and so it was launched by everyone present with Rashid giving his short speech.thanking everyone and apologizing for everything that was not happening.that should have happened. I understand that it is not an easy task to set up a show especially when it involves fifteen participants.
A son  proud of his father's efforts, (I hope).
Malay, Chinese Indian and a mixed of a little of this and that in my case.
Wah Peng, Osman and Vasu
Everyone having a fun time with the laksa Penang being served.
Brian and wife, a couple who is one of the most supportive of the  fine  arts activities in the Georgetown area. They are also art collectors and have a serious collection of their own.
